I’ve been an independent consultant for the last 14 years, primarily working in the Microsoft Web space, both writing software and educating developers on existing and emerging technologies. During that time I have worked closely with the Microsoft Web team in Redmond, writing market leading books on their technologies, resulting in me being chosen by the Web team to co-write the first book on ASP.NET; in all I’ve written around 45 books and have worked in-tandem with several development teams in Microsoft to bring the books to market.

I have also been a regular speaker at global conferences, including Microsoft’s own PDC and TechEd, performing talks on SQL Server, ASP.NET, HTML and CSS, Web standards, and general web development techniques. I am also a key organiser in the UK’s most popular developer days, a free one-day conference, which take place regularly around the UK, including being hosted at Microsoft Reading.

I have been a Microsoft MVP in ASP.NET for the last 7 years, and am a member of the ASPInsiders, a group of technology professionals that provide early feedback to the Microsoft Development Teams.
